The Experience of Forgiveness A Course in Miracles Gathering
“Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. It does not pardon sins and make them real. It sees there was no sin. And in that view are all your sins forgiven. What is sin, except a false idea about God’s Son? Forgiveness merely sees its falsity, and therefore lets it go. What then is free to take its place is now the Will of God.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.1.1)
In this gathering with students of A Course in Miracles, David Hoffmeister talks about the experience of forgiveness: “We’re talking about the experience at the deepest core of your being. In the heart of hearts, you know you’re innocent and have always been innocent—nothing but innocent. But to bring this experience up into your awareness, we need to be practical. That’s why I don’t do lectures or talks so much. I just show up with willingness and I don’t have a clue what Spirit is going to say, if anything. I’m clueless for God and very happy. I have a book called Movie Watchers Guide to Enlightenment. A lot of the movies that make it into that book are about characters who are clueless, yet blissfully happy.
I’m here to tell you that you can get really clueless. It’s actually possible to tune into guidance so that Spirit becomes your life. You’re on Spirit autopilot. It’s like Spirit is music you listen to all the time. It’s a state of mind. It is very passionate. Spirit is in you, as you, moving through you. It’s far from bland. I laugh when people say, ‘Heaven must be boring.’ I tell them it is far from boring. That’s just the ego judging what Heaven must be like.”
